President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed 19 new members to the National Planning Commission, a move aimed at bolstering Namibia's economic planning and development. This comes as the Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, has directed all government ministries to prioritize buying local goods where possible, a directive intended to boost domestic manufacturing.

In other economic news, the fishing sector's contribution to the country's GDP has seen a slight decline. Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare is championing the "blue economy" for sustainable growth, emphasizing the importance of marine resources. Meanwhile, the Ongwediva Trade Fair is boosting safety with a new police satellite office, and new members have been appointed to the Engineering Council.
